Help Provide Books to Keep Kids Reading and Learning

Hooray for Books! is launching a program to support Alexandria children in need. We’re partnering with Wright to Read at The Campagna Center to support literacy while schools and public libraries are closed. This is especially crucial as in-person tutoring has been suspended and many of their students may have limited access to technology during this time.

With your support, Hooray for Books! will provide discounted books and subsidize the postage to get books directly in Wright to Read students’ hands. Our goal is to provide at least 3 books, selected by the mentors who know each student the most and customized for the student’s reading level, for each Wright to Read student.

A purchase of a $40 gift certificate would allow us to meet that goal for each student, but any contribution would be greatly appreciated. Surplus funds would be used to expand Wright to Read’s lending library and purchase literacy games to support its tutoring efforts.

For over 40 years, Wright to Read has supported Alexandria City Public Schools students improve their literacy skills and grow their love of reading by pairing elementary-aged children with dedicated volunteer tutor/mentors.
