LOVE OUR LOCAL AUTHORS (LOLA) FESTIVAL
2019 DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATION FORM
The LOLA festivals are limited to self-published and small-press authors who live in the Virginia/Maryland/DC area and have not already had an opportunity to sell their books at our events.
The next two LOLA festivals are scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2019 (SOLD OUT) and Sunday, September 29, 2019. The festival will run from 3 pm to 5 pm – authors should arrive no earlier than 2 pm.
Each festival will feature author panels, corresponding to the books’ target age group. Authors of multiple books can submit only one title for sale at the festival unless the books comprise a series.
Each panelist will have 3 minutes to talk about their book; the rest of the time, authors will be seated at tables for book-signing.
Hooray for Books! will sell books to attendees, and authors will receive 60% of the retail price of their books after the festival. No consignment sales will be made following the festival.
To apply, complete and sign this form, enclose a $20 check made out to Hooray for Books!, and mail your application form and check to Hooray for Books! The $20.00 application fee is nonrefundable.
You will be notified by email between 10 and 30 days prior to the festival date for which you’ve been selected. At that time, you will be told your panel and presentation time.
On the day of the festival, bring 15 to 20 copies of your book to the store no EARLIER than 1 pm. You may also bring small promotional materials. DO NOT bring banners, large displays, or food/drink.
At the end of the festival, take your remaining books and promotional materials. Items left at the bookstore at the end of the day will be donated to a local literacy organization, and you will not receive payment for the donated items.
